This policy explains what personal data FileGB ("we") collects, why, and what rights you have. The data controller is FileGB.
What we collect
- Account data: username, e-mail address and password (stored only as a secure hash).
- Files: the files you upload, their names, sizes and descriptions.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and logs of uploads, downloads and logins.
- Payment data: for Premium purchases, the payment provider tells us the amount and a transaction ID. We never see or store your full card details.
- Cookies: to keep you logged in, remember your language and protect against abuse.
Why we use it
- To provide the Service: storing your files, delivering downloads and managing your account.
- To keep the Service secure: preventing spam, fraud and abuse, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To process Premium payments.
- To send service e-mails such as account confirmation and password resets.
- To comply with legal obligations, including handling copyright notices and requests from authorities.
Who can see your files
Files are private by default: only people who have the link can download them. If you mark a file as Public, it may be listed in our public file catalogue.
Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Service (hosting, e-mail delivery, payment processing, bot protection) and with authorities when required by law.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. Files are kept until you delete them or they expire under our retention rules. Logs are kept for up to 90 days unless needed to investigate abuse.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data and close your account at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us. If you are in the EU/UK you also have the right to object to processing, to data portability and to complain to your data protection authority. We are a small team, so please allow up to 4 business days for a reply to privacy requests.
Changes
We may update this policy and will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page.
